Whenever you think of your health, you may only be thinking about your physical health. But what about your mental health? Your mental health is just as important as your physical health, and if you don’t care for one, the other will be affected. Your physical and mental health go hand in hand. Therefore, both need attention and care.

Think about it. If you are overweight and sedentary, you know you are at an increased chance of developing ailments such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. If you have no other physical conditions but the reason that you are not interested in being active or paying attention to what you eat – then you need to look at your mental health. And it is prevalent for those who suffer from depression to struggle with motivation. Therefore, they won’t be motivated to care for their physical health.

Therefore, it is a known fact that the only obvious way to better physical health is to improve your lifestyle. However, the only way that can happen is if you tackle your mental health challenges first. And on the flip side, if you are in chronic pain all of the time, that can take a beating to your mental health, which prevents you from being motivated to find ways to manage that as well. I am making sure your mental health is low, your physical health will likely be as well and vice versa. That is why caring for your mental health is essential and should stop being stigmatized.

Fortunately, over time, more and more awareness is shared about mental illnesses. That is why there are now many online therapy platforms that are more affordable than going to a private therapist. That is a massive thing since money is often an issue of why people don’t go to personal therapy often, even if insurance covers it partially.

There are also free apps that you can download that help your mental health, and there is a new one called Lyftly.

Lyftly is a wellness and happiness app that is available on iOS as well as Google Play. It is free to download. This app offers highly useful tools to help you manage your mental and emotional state’s ups and downs. It also provides programs and suggestions for helping you cope with life and the stress around you. There are coaches as well, and you can talk to peers if you need support.

This app is geared for college students since they are at a transitional phase in life; however, the fact of the matter is that anyone can use the app. Depression and anxiety do not discriminate, and those who suffer from those types of mental illnesses will benefit from what the app has to offer.

You have the ability within Lyftly to post a new story, chat with a peer, and compose a personal journal. There is also a section within the app called Better Me, which covers your life areas that can easily affect your mental health if any of them are off-kilter. You are encouraged to set goals in the following areas:

  • Being active
  • Relaxing
  • Socialization
  • New challenges
  • Having fun
  • Monitoring your emotions
  • Healthy eating
  • Getting inspired
  • Understanding your identity
  • Building your self-esteem

If you click to any of the areas you want to focus on the most, it will guide you towards methods you can utilize to reach your goals. For instance, if you click on the healthy eating section, you will want to set a plan to improve your eating within the interface. The tips it will provide will remind you to eat a salad, drink six to eight glasses of water per day, eating healthier alternatives – and even having a cheat meal once in a while. That is because deprivation never works, and the trick is not to feel guilty over it.

This app may be the very thing you need to help you achieve happiness, higher self-esteem, and become more productive!
