November is the month to focus on men’s health, which is why this is Movember. Men’s general health and mental health are the focus for this month. Because, there are so many men out there who struggle with depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions. Unfortunately, men who suffer will often do so in silence, which is tragic. They are afraid to speak up as they fear that any mental health struggle they face will threaten masculinity. That is because society has made mental illness appear as a weakness, and that is why even women have suffered in silence for so many decades and longer.
Fortunately, the stigma that comes with mental health is softening due to awareness conducted. Mental illness is no different from physical illnesses such as cancer, diabetes, and arthritis. You have to remember that your brain is an organ like your pancreas, as a faulty pancreas results in blood sugar problems and diabetes—the cardiovascular disease results from a heart that isn’t healthy. Your brain can be unhealthy as well, which results in chemical imbalances causing mental illnesses. Men are not immune to having those chemical imbalances. Men suffering from depression, anxiety, and any other mental illness must seek help before they get worse. It is not a weakness. And fortunately, many advocates such as myself recognize that but want to send encouragement to men and women to get help if they are suffering.
Many business owners and app developers, and site owners are sending encouragement for sufferers to seek help. That is why the organizers of the 5 Minutes for Me Wellness and Mindset podcast App are on a quest to assist with the growing issues of mental health. That is why the 5 Minutes for Me Wellness and Mindset podcast App is being offered FREE of charge until 30 November 2020 to recognize International Men’s Health Day.
